Jakarta Islamic Center (JIC) is projected as a religious tourism destination in the capital. As the initial phase, the city administration has formed the Technical Management Unit (UPT) and allocated Rp 11 billion.

“ Besides Islamic education center, I hope the JIC could represent Islam in Indonesia ,” said Jakarta Governor, Basuki “Ahok” T Purnama after he attended Halaqah Ulama in Jakarta Islamic Center, Koja, North Jakarta, Wednesday (8/12).

In order to create ease access for tourist towards the location, the Light Rapid Transit route would be extended to Jakarta Islamic Center. “We’ll extend the LRT route to the JIC,” he expressed.

Thus far, as much as 6 civil servants are involved in such project. “If you want to know more about Islam, just come,” he expressed.

In addition, with a 12-hectare land, Ahok plans to build a lodgement for Vocational High School (SMK) students. “We gonna build this alike Husni Thamrin Boarding School,” he finished.
